Spring at Caddo

It’s another season at the Caddo NG! Jeanne and I will be here for the week. Indeed it was a bit nippy this morning. However with the sunshine we quickly warmed up.

First nice find was the Yellow Star-grass (Hypoxis hirsuta)!
Furthermore I had never noticed the fuzzy buds before. Always more to learn, eh!
We found one Cream Wild Indigo (Baptisia bracteata) blooming!
The Sensitive Briar was just barely getting started. No flowers yet.
The Bitternut Hickory (Carya cordiformis) leaves had recently come out. The curls at the base were where they had emerged from.
Jeanne found lots of mosses!
The globose hickory nut starred back at me. 🙂
So much is hidden from view from above.
We were back at camp. The door handle broke and we were trapped inside.
So we managed to find some string. We needed a MacGyver fix.
It definitely won’t keep many bugs out. LOL.

It’s great to be back in Fannin County!
