The Queen Has Arrived!

Hard to keep up with the new life that is waking up now.

This gal was not moving! She may have been laying an egg. It was early and she already had laid two previously.
The Cedar Waxwings were getting a drink after eating some of the new buds from the trees. They heading for the upper half of North American and Canada for the breeding season.
Only the male Black-chinned Hummingbird so far.
The bluebird nestlings are growing up fast. Well, that’s what they do. πŸ™‚
We made this wood pile especially for the Eastern Carpenter Bees (Xylocopa virginica)! They just came out a few days ago! The males can be distinguished by their whitish foreheads.
The queen American Bumblebee (Bombus pensylvanicus) has come out of hibernation. She has starting her forging! She will lay her first eggs soon. It will take 4-5 weeks for the her helpers to appear. The American Bumblebee in 2021 was being considered as a Endangered and Threatened species. They have declined by 90% in the US. The same factors that has affected many insects includes pesticides, habitat loss and climate change.

  1. I look forward to the bumblebee every year. I actually convinced one close neighbor to quit using one of those mosquito spraying services. Indeed of all kinds were declining in my yard.
