Along the path, the non-native Periwinkles (Vinca major) were just beginning.
Here is overview of the layout of the tower.
This was the front of the building. And strangely enough from this perspective you can’t see the tall tower.
Fireplace in the livingroom.
A 3 cubic foot concrete mixture was there. This was of particular interest to us because just last week we were mixing concrete at home. 🙂 There were many posters with info about the CCC and WPA working on projects. So it was a bit humorous or maybe sad was how the young men were instructed to carefully plant Bermuda grass. Well, they did a great job building these structures across the country. Hats off to the CCC!
The original stairs to the next floor was quite nice.
A view of the livingroom from above. The mastodon replicate was made from a specimen found in Murray County which is several counties to the north.
And then the spiral staircase leading up the tower. I could hardly wait for the view!
Indeed the climb was easy!
The high powered telescope was there. However it was not in working order. I’m not sure how old it was but the cost was $.50 to use. So I remember $.25 so it wasn’t that old. LOL.
The view was spectacular as advertised! While looking out I saw a pair of Common Loons on the lake and several Canada Geese honked as they flew by.
Time for me to make another visit to Lake Murray!
Beautiful stone work on that building. It will last many many years.
Great view of tower!
What a cool tower!
Now I really want to go back for another visit.
😊
