A Breath of Fresh Air

Yes, it was down right cold and damp out today.

And here I sat. Watching my friends who do not choice but to be outside.
The Dark-eyed Juncos!
Indeed lots of goldfinches!
Our cute little squirrel friend!
Cardinals fending off the competition at the feeder.
However I could not sit any longer. Bundling up I headed outside. Water droplets covered the young Rabbit’s Tobacco (Diaperia prolifera)!
Blades of grass were adorned with the droplets too.
Indeed the Weissia moss was bejeweled as well!

And the Jellyskin lichen (Leptogium) was just a bit more happy I’m sure. This jelly lichen is another that has cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) like another jelly lichen, Collema. However this one is has upper cortex (skin). All the little bumps are called isidia. The isidia will easily detach that can serve as a vegetative reproductive units.

Getting a breath of fresh air was just what I had needed today!
