A Green Ball

Continuing on with the warm Thursday’s afternoon outing.

Still finding pockets of snow in the shadows.

A shallow ditch provides a place for mosses and lichens to thrive on the bank.
A standout cluster of puffballs!
Looking a bit deeper I found they were on swollen stems!

With a little nudging help, it released its spores!

A little mound of a moss!
So this was a bit of surprise, hello again to the Jelly Babies (Leotia lubrica)! Moreover they were still looking fresh! They were covered in leaves when I found them yesterday. And they have survived in the twenty degrees temps and then snow. Seemed pretty incredible when most mushrooms fade after a week or so. In fact they have been going since December 28, 2024, three weeks! At least that was when I discovered them. So I covered them back up as I found them. See y’all in a week or so friends!
A happy puppy with a green ball. LOL.
