Over the holidays the weather has been wonderful with the rain and fairly warm weather. So of course I continued to go to the grasslands. Most days in the afternoon when it is a bit warmer. But some colder weather will be here tomorrow. Our high today was 79F!
The seeds were everywhere!
Tons of the Field Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis ) seeds laid near the parent plants.
Petrified wood always is a treasure. Moreover I am in awe to think of the world when it was a part of a living tree millions of years ago.
A single seed of Field Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis ).
The attachment to the Field Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis ) reminded me of a basketmaker’s start of a new basket.
A tiny peach colored pebble looked like a tiny molar.
Even among the grasses you can find Peg Lichens (Cladonia ). My observation has been if the Cladonia gets a good bit of sun they have darker caps.
Hiding with the mosses and Yellow Scale lichen, an Earthstar (Geastrum ).
And the beautiful armadillo armor.
Walk slow and look down is my usual plan. 🙂 So much to see!
