Bromide Springs

It was time to move on to the next destination.

At the top of Bromide Hill Lookout Biglow Oaks grew! However It was time to head down to a lower elevation again.
A few of the Biglow Oaks still had yellow leaves with red veins!
The shaggy bark of a Biglow Oak!
Back down at 925 feet we stopped in at Bromide Springs. This was the last spring we visited.

20 gallons a week, oh my!
On the roof was a colony of moss! (Photo by Claire)
Claire could reach the roof top for a photo!

However I enlisted the tall person to get my shot. 🙂
The capsules stood tall!
It looked like a crowded room. 🙂
Analysis was made of the water!
Sulphur water here folks! It was dry.

City water on the other side was dry too.

Then I saw the sign. 🙁
A close up of the lichens.

Last lichens!

It was 3 o’clock and Claire needed to head back home. It had been so much fun to have her explore with us on Saturday (14th) and Sunday (15th).

And Happy Holidays!

  1. Love that moss shot that Jim got. I remember reading once that for every human ailment there was a plant to cure it. Yeah Mistletoe!

  2. The sign that says the springs have ceased flowing makes me sad. 🫤😔 Another very cool and elaborate CCC structure for sure!

    1. There was a map on a sign (that I failed to take a pic of) showing locations of springs that have quit and those that were still going. It was at least half had stopped if I remember right. Claire might remember it better? Yep sad. On a bright note like you said the CCC folks did some great work!
