A Cluster

The trail we chose started at the Travertine Visitor Center. Of course first we had to go in and get the lay of land from the helpful park people. πŸ™‚

A Common Snapping Turtle was one creatures that was on exhibit at the center.
A fire fighter was standing behind the exhibit. πŸ˜‰
Indeed I felt sorry for the poor fire fighter who was sandwiched between the displays. They were trapped! LOL.
There were numerous signs to warn people of the itchy poison ivy.
Time to find our trail!
Plenty of fallen trees to admire the mosses and lichens.
Travertine Creek runs along the trail. Several trails lead you across but the stepping stones were partially underwater. So as you might imagine we did not want wet feet that cool day.
After searching multiple trees, finally a leafy liverwort. These friends are very tiny and easily overlooked.
Ahead stuck to the side of a tree looked like a pine cone. That can’t be, there were no pine trees at this location.
Ha ha it was a cluster of mushrooms!

Can you have too much fun on a trail? Silly question, eh. And we still had not reach our end point. πŸ™‚

  1. Sweet clump of mushrooms. Poor tigers. I doubt they will ever be the same as is happening with too many things. Plant and animal. Nice story tho.

  2. Yes those liverworts are so tiny that’s it’s really hard to even find them sometimes. Don’t remember ever seeing a cluster of mushrooms hanging out on a tree quite like those.
Here’s to the Tigers- wish the best for them!
