Persimmons!

So do you have special traditions that you do on Thanksgiving/Indigenous Day holiday weekend? Stuff your face of course. LOL. Maybe you shop or like me get outside.

Friday after friends left, we headed across the field to our persimmon tree.

And then it was time to get to the serious picking! Briar stood guard as the neighbors’ cow grazed next door.
Paula loved the tractor help!
Then Paula climbed from the tractor onto the tree!
Paula and Wes shook the limbs. Well, those persimmons fell on the ground crew. Ouch!

Finally the high climber and ladder picker was about to get the last fruit. But I stepped in and said no. The mockingbird and I would need a snack on another day. πŸ˜‰ (Photo by Claire)

Wes has plans to make preserves. Yum! Will this be a new tradition for the holiday weekend? Maybe if Wes is pleased with his preserves. πŸ™‚ You can follow what Wes (Chef) does with the persimmons on Claire’s blog in her post 12/02/2024 persimmon jelly yummmm.

  1. Skunks are always lucky. Unless they spray under your house. You were lucky to have a monkey help get the persimmons.

  2. Somehow I get the feeling that the Pollinator Ranch is going to have traps for rollers, dwellers and tunnelers sometime soon
