A Mockingbird stopped in for bite at our Common Persimmon!
A soft rattling noise caught my attention!
No, twasn’t a rattlesnake but a Rat Snake. The less prominent ridges on the scales made the case for a Rat Snake and not a Bull Snake. Even though I knew what kind of snake it was, its tail rattling gave me pause each time they did it. LOL.
Before long they had retreated up the tree!
Certainly they would have been hard to spot if I hadn’t seen them move there.
Such an agile climber!
The blue butterfly quickly capture my attention!
It was the uncommon Ceramimis Blue (Hemiargus ceraunus) that flittered in the warm sunshine.
Finally the faux snake, a Honey Locust pod! It gave me pause too. 🙂

Wow! That nudibranch is breathtaking. So many beautiful sea creatures. And i almost didn’t see the mockingbird on your persimmon tree.
Yes the nudibranch is really spectacular! So transparent and graceful. And it can glow!
I have watched rat snakes climb trees too – so doggone fast – how do they do that?
