Cool Crisp Morning

On Wednesday morning a group of us gathered for the November First Wednesday. The cool crisp air was exactly what I needed. And the sunshine felt good too!

Really just soak in this view from the top of a mesa! And off we went to enjoy the morning. 🙂
Leaving nothing unturned, I checked the cow patty. This was interesting to find a mushroom underneath.
Antelope Horns (Asclepias asperula ssp capricornu) with its still green seed pod!

Dodder (Cuscata) is a hard one to ID to species. So I am happy to just say Dodder today. LOL.
A few of the Leavenworth’s Eryngo (Eryngium leavenworthii) still have a purple hue. Additionally this one had a red mite!

Then over one inflorescence were a couple of true bug nymphs!

The White Checkered Butterfly was out as the morning warmed up!

It was a grand morning to be on the prairie! More tomorrow from the First Wednesday outing.

Growing Food Instead of Lawns in California Front Yards

Insect insomnia: Common pesticide keeping bees, flies up at night Thanks Judy!

Keep looking!

  1. It’s pretty cool that those front yards supply food for so many. Interesting how they stacked the growing beds – a pretty involved system. I like Claire’s simple approach!

  2. I think the stack makes sense though did their production. Get a lot more in but still sun. What a great guy, taking care of his neighbors and helping people connect.
