Early on Tuesday morning, the FOS (first of season) White-crowned Sparrows popped in. The cold front will be moving more so keep those nighttime lights off as much as you can. Kathy told me she had Yellow Sapsuckers now.
The Fall Asters (Symphyotrichum ericoides) have explored! Some of you may call them White Heath Asters as does iNat. 🤷🏻♀️ This species looks like a scraggly “weed” all summer.
Then in the fall these asters come alive! The Five-banded Thynnid Wasp (Myzinum quinquecinctum) was in head first!
Several species of wasps visited like this Northern Paper Wasp (Polistes fuscatus)!
The Fiery Skipper wasn’t going to be left out of the buffet!
The Poecilanthrax lucifer bee fly doesn’t care what you call them…no common name. However they got in line for feast! LOL.
