In the Shadow

A few of treasures from around our home.

A curly antenna on a Owlet Moth (Noctuoidea)!
The Buffalo Gourd (Cucurbita foetidissima) is re-blooming! Crazy since we haven’t had any rain, eh.
A Queen stopped in for a sip!
Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii)! Our little patch has started to bloom!
Starting near the ground, the stem and blades are a bit hairy. Last year’s growth was still curled in a tangle.
Not so much at this node. However I loved the color!
Isn’t this gorgeous!
If you have never stopped to look at a grass closely, well get out there. 😉 And don’t miss the grasses’ beauty!

A fly (Diptera) on the Maximilian Sunflower (Helianthus maximiliani).
In the shades patiently they wait for their meal.
