They are back again, Green-lip Ladies-tresses (Spiranthes lacera var. gracilis)!!!
The first two! This is always the first species of Ladies-tresses I see in the fall.
Such a neat plant!
And the green lip! Gotta love’em!
Top view. The other common two Spiranthes to follow will be the Spiranthes cernua (Nodding Ladies-tresses) and Spiranthes magnicamporum (Great Plains Ladies-tresses). Can’t wait!
Additionally the Prairie Gaillardia (Gaillardia aestivalis) still is blooming. As always watch for the chunky fuzzy bee fly (Systoechus)! It can be found from spring to late fall.
Woohoo, the Narrow-leaf Gayfeather (Liatris punctata var mucronata) have also started!
Love the changing seasons! Each has its own special treasures!
Love the close ups of the ladies tresses. And the pic of birds are great, especially the flamingos.
Yes the flamingos!🦩
Will be. on the lookout for ladies tresses here next month for sure – hoping for a good year.
Yep those flamingo’s are really cool.
Great to see!!
I’ll be on the lookout! I love finding fall orchids too.
