Makes Me Smile

Oh my it was so great to get some rain! Our bucket now says over an inch fell in the last few days. No complaints here. 🙂 Hope your bucket got a bunch too!

The rain drops magnified the hairs of a Snow-on-the-prairie (Euphorbia marginata)!
A delightful Hover Fly (Toxomerus politus) stopped in!
Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) was a stand out.

The Goldeneye lichen (Teloschistes chrysophthalmus) and the other lichens were taking it all in!
The colorful Chittamwood or Bumelia dripped!
But really caught my eye today was the ephemeral Rain Lily (Zephyranthes chlorosolen)!
From the top!
Side shot!

Every angle was just awesome! Indeed the perennial monocot that only sprouts up after a rain is always sure to make me smile.

Tomorrow’s post back to the Cooke County drive-about.

  1. Raindrop magnifier – so cool. And I’ll have to go looking for rain lilies here on Thursday.
Great articles on ancient dates(wish I could taste one!) and solar tags on wildlife – wonder if some have cameras too.
