Subtle Color

So many treasures at the False Foxglove location. From rocks to critters. Then we moved on for two more quick stops.

Before I take you to the next two spots a man with a turban. 😉

I see a face and the amazing colors!

Hieroglyphic, maybe? LOL. More likely a root had been embedded in the sandstone as it formed.

The moss dead capsules still stood tall. Well if you can say an inch is tall. LOL.

I was able to coax a Cardinal Jumper (Phidippus cardinalis) briefly out in the open for a pic.

Hypericum hypericoides!

We then moved on to the next stop at the Pink Gayfeathers (Liatris elegans). However it was not very pink that day. Furthermore we did not go searching the area for some that might be pinker. It was getting rather hot. 😉
Our last stop was at the Groundnut (Apios americana)!
Covered in the road dust its subtle colors were a beautiful sight!

It was getting mighty hot and we decided to call it a day. However as always it had been a wonderful drive-about!
