A large oak branch had fallen and now was covered in the shelf fun guys! A rave? π
A bright orange fun guy! It was a bit dried out. Maybe it had too much to drink. LOL.
Shelf fun guys that had climbed the branch on a fallen log! Perhaps they drank too much and were climbing the flag pole.
Here was a tiny orange one. So it was very delicate as even a soft brush left lines on the top. We had tried to brush off the sand granules.
Indeed a moss provided a green party hat for this fun guy! π
These were the really cool fun guys! Sometimes called the Devil’s Urn or the Black Tulip.
A closer look at one individual. So I thought I had seen these before. However I could not remember from where. Though once home with access to my collection of photos, I found that I had seen them at Caddo NG in April 2022. These guys are found at about the same time as morels. In fact while we were out surveying we ran into a mother and son out hunting the morels. The Devil’s Urn is not very edible. Moreover apparently one person survived eating it thinking it was another species. Beware! Indeed definitely the safer philosophy is to buy at the store.
That fun guy with moss deserves an award. Prettiest picture ever. Love the devils urns.
The devils urn are really cool! Havenβt seen them myself!
I love the fun guy with the green party hat. Whoa, the devil’s urns are really cool! Glad you survived your party with those excessively fun guys!
