Kathy’s View

Today’s annular eclipse was just spectacular! And Kathy sent me some of photos which I am featuring today. Tomorrow I will show you what I got over at Abilene State Park after I get them sorted.

Kathy was at the heart of the annular eclipse. She didn’t even have to leave her house. Lucky duck, eh! Some of her shots were by hand holding the solar glasses against the camera lens of 2 different cameras. One camera was hand held and the other used a tripod.

First shot (image 3031 – Canon PowerShot ELPH 180) at 11:35am showed the direction of the shades on the ground beneath a Live Oak.

Here this photo was taken with a Canon PowerShot ELPH 180 at 11:41am. (IMG_3039).

Using Canon PowerShot SX520 HS Kathy said she did not plan or know why the odd effects occurred with the glow around it.

The show was about over for Kathy at 12:15pm. (Canon PowerShot SX520 HS).

Wow Kathy you had a great show! Thanks for sharing your great shots! It looked awesome. Over at Abilene State Park we did not get the complete ring of fire, but still it was great. My shots of the event tomorrow.

  1. We had no problems with trespassing. We did do some precautions with signs and fencing. I think the crowds went to Kerrville where there was a festival and NASA held experiments and educated people. One thing I forgot to add in my notes to Mary was that the crescents on the ground were reverse of what we saw of the moon against the sun.
I got really excited when the ring showed. All of it was amazing. My son was in Galveston with his wife’s family viewing the eclipse nd they got a great view there too.

  2. Mary, if I share the link to this blog day with friends, can they see it or only those of us that have signed up with you? Gary wanted to send it to his family.
