What’s new today…

A few of my favorite things at home today.

I have checked this polypore fungus for several days now for interesting critters. So far nothing, but you never know when something will show up. ๐Ÿ™‚

White pollen on the Bumble Bee!

Was Western Leaf-footed Bug (Leptoglossus clypealis) stuck on the Texas Thistle (Cirsium texanum)?
Nope! The resin on the phyllaries was not sticky yet.
At first I didn’t think I was going to get a photo of the Pale Bordered Field Cockroach (Pseudomops septentrionalis) on a willow tree. Then it crawled on my finger. Success! Also the Pale Bordered Field Cockroach only lives outside. So you can admire when you see one!

A tiny spider snared a Laboratory Fruit Fly (Drosophila melanogaster -tentatively). If this is the species, they have a job with NASA.

Definitely always fun to watch the locomotion of a caterpillar’s walk! Here the Hackberry Emperor most likely was hunting for a place to pupate. It was on an Post Oak.

Hope y’all saw some good nature today as well! ๐Ÿ™‚
