Black Mesa State Park

Black Mesa State Park in Oklahoma was where we spent the next five full days exploring the area. Oh my, it was so pretty and interesting!

Short grass prairie scenery leading into the park. And there were prairie dogs along the road, but too far for a photo. However, no burrowing owls were seen. ;-(

The entrance sign was just your basic sign. However, we had high hopes of a spectacular park!

It was pretty darn cold when we arrived at the park. However later in the week the forecast was not so cold. Yeah for us!
Near the camp grounds, a few pieces of large petrified wood. The park staff had moved it here years ago.
One of the log was hollow!
See hollow!😎

So a start like this meant our expectations was high for wonderful sights to follow! And lots rocks!

The illustrations that Alice does are incredibly beautiful – great article on how she creates them and how her method has embraced new ways to draw
