Wind and dust

Our original plan was to stay only one night at Boiling Springs State Park. However, after looking at the forecast for high winds, we decided it was prudent to stay put another day.

First small plant that intrigued us, the Jagged Chickweed (Holosteum umbellatum).
Indeed, it was cool looking down the throat!
It took awhile to find the Jagged Chickweed in bloom, but we did finally. It is a non-native. However, it is not too invasive. Thanks Abby for your help on this one!
Jim watched on as we (Claire, Briar, and I) did our thing.
In this case, it was for a butterfly, the Falcate Orangetip. It is not often to find one that sits still long enough for a photo. ๐Ÿ™‚

First hole of the trip!

In I went!

I was rewarded with a mushroom that was growing inside the hole!

Behind the park office, lies the reason that the park was named Boiling Springs. And it really was boiling!

Finally at the end of day, the dust was thick and it had been windy all day. So we were happy that we had stayed. Furthermore, we saw lots of cool sights at the park!

Note: If I was in the photo, Claire or Jim took the photo. Thanks Jim and Claire!

Keep looking!
