The prescribed burns have started on the grasslands. So you may want to check before going. Today’s burn was on unit 31.

Today was a grassland day for Jeanne and I. After we had finished up the outing, we could see the prescribed burn going full force. So of course we decided to go for a closer look. 😉

This was about 3pm. After the smoke clears I may try to do follow up shots of the vegetation as it grows back this spring and summer.

Almost back home with the fire in the distance.

Jeanne took this video a few days ago of a jumping spider with its prey, a stinkbug. Love nature in action! Thanks Jeanne!

And as the sun set, we could see the Great Horned Owl on the pump jack.
