Love the love knot/limb hole! I think it looks like a heart.
There were plenty of small Woodsia ferns along the ravine.
A knobby burl made me think it of a person looking down. Kinda like me examining the ground closely. Well, that is how I viewed the burl. LOL
At this point in the wide ravine, all we were seeing were mosses and ferns on the bank. No lichens. Which was pretty strange to us.
Beautiful roosting spot?
Apparently so because the leaves below were splattered with the white poo!
The Ebony Spleenwort was spotted!
Finally some Lepraria lichen but it was on the tree. Not a single Cladonia lichen was found to be nestled with the mosses on this long stretch in the ravine. Pretty strange. What made this ravine different? We just didn’t see a difference. Love a mystery!
