Four F’s

What made you smile today? For me it was friends, family, fauna, and flora. Hmmm, that’s the four F’s. We all need them right. Here are a few of the F’s that made me smile today.

Still asleep when we walked by in the early morning, Crow-poison (Nothoscordum bivalve)!

Befitting its name, the Sleepy Daisy (Xanthisma texanum var. drummondii) was still closed on the morning walk.

The Rain-lily (Zephyranthes chlorosolen) seed pod was forming nicely! Looks like a green bell pepper ;-).

A Lined Orbweaver’s (Mangora gibberosa) web!

A close up. Oh no I see a web face looking back at me. I smiled!

A bolete mushroom!

So here is a dead scorpion. I smile not because the scorpion was dead, but that ants had a meal. Nothing to waste!

Eggplant Tortoise Beetle (Gratiana pallidula) larva carrying its fecal shield. Indeed, a clever disguise! Are you smiling yet?

The Crow-poison was open on the afternoon walk.

Finally, the Sleepy Daisy (Xanthisma texanum var drummondii) was open in the afternoon as well! I think with the recent rains, many fauna and flora are smiling.

Certainly a day to smile with the four F’s for me. Hope your day made you smile too!

  1. The underside of that mushroom is most interesting. Spider web is very pretty. Havent seen very many spiders this summer. Sad.
