A Pot of Gold

OMG we got 0.19″ of rain this morning! I hope you got some too. To top it off the temp only made it to 86! Wow I say!

Yep at 7am we had a rainbow! Indeed I was glad we had decided to walk a little earlier than usual. Karma for sure!
Further from the house we could see it was a full rainbow with a faint double. Then I got to wondering. Oh no you say. LOL. Well why was the sky lighter under the rainbow? I asked myself. Here was the answer I found…Light Sky Under Rainbow. And if you look carefully on the lower right maybe you can make out the darker sky between the two bows.
Yesterday Claire told me about her find of Black Leaf-Leg (a member of the Dictyopharid Planthoppers) on her Sumac (Rhus). So today I went searching on the Winged-rib Sumac (Rhus copallinum)! Maybe I would get lucky? This is the bark of new growth on our Winged-rib Sumac.
First find was this Flat-headed Leafhopper(Ledrinae), a Xerophloea peltata (no common name).
The common Diamondback Spittlebug (Lepyronia quadrangularis) all grown up.
A spider exuvia!
Multiple of these pale yellow cocoons were noticed.
Leafminer!

Northern Crab Spider (Mecaphesa asperata)!
Another find was the Dark Marathyssa (Marathyssa inficita) caterpillar!

Was the Assassin Bug (Reduviidae) crossing their fingers behind their back? LOL.

So on the afternoon walk I didn’t find the Black Leaf-leg hopper on our Winged-rib Sumac (Rhus copallinum). ;-(

Furthermore I didn’t find the leprechaun’s pot of gold this morning. However, I think I found so much more today!
