A Fun Fungi Day

After the big ole tree, I was hopeful for more interesting fungi!

Trail sign. Notice two things. First a part of a small metal sign was being swallowed up by the tree. Hope they don’t get indigestion. Next look at the fungus!
Really fuzzy and gorgeous! They are the Hairy Oyster Mushrooms (Panus lecomtei syn Panus neostrigosus)! Looks like it was going to be fun-gi day!
Wood’s Ear (Auricularia) on a branch on the ground.
A whole tree full of the Wood’s Ear (Auricularia)!
Candy Apple Waxy Cap (Hygrocybe cuspidata)!
Less than a foot away someone thought its brethren was yum!
More Wood’s Ear!
Polypore shelf fungus!
Candle Snuff (Xylaria)! However I like to call them baby fingers. LOL.
Tiny white mushrooms!
These little ones may have been my favorite fungi of the day. So cute!
So for scale, my finger. These are matured.
So did I come up with an ID? Yes, the Common Bird’s Nest Fungus (Crucibulum laeve) here with its eggs! Indeed they must have just lost their lid since it had rained the night before. The eggs will get projected out when rain splashes in the the cup. Indeed a cool system, eh!

A very fun fungi day!
