What a Treat!

Today Catherine and I visited private property in Cooke County. This was a Trinity Forks NPSOT pop up field trip. And goodness y’all missed a good one. 🙂

Stepping out of the car we were greeted by the only Carolina Anemone (Anemone caroliniana) that had not gone to seed! Our host came out shortly and we caught with news. Denise had put in multiple new raised beds for vegetables.
The milkweeds were starting to bloom like this Antelope Horns (Asclepias asperula ssp capricornu)!
The Ground Plum (Astragalus crassicarpus) had plum-ed!
A gorgeous bunch of White Milkwort (Senega alba syn –Polygala alba)!
Somewhere on the drive to her ranch, I saw a Foxglove (Penstemon cobaea) blooming but not here yet.
But I think the buds are incredible just on their own!

Moreover this was just the beginning. We had not yet walked passed the house. 🙂

More tomorrow from Cooke County!

One more thing…Happy Earth Day to everyone!
