Last Full Day

Monday (2024-12-16) was our last full day at Chickasaw NRA. And in this post I had stumbled across a Chickasaw dictionary online so I have included some words. Check out this word ayukpachi and its pronunciations.

Before we headed out for the day, I had walked the lake (haiyip) shore. Wow, a Common Loon was in the distance. Then I saw another! That was cool!
Deer (issi) friends!
Here was our morning destination, the beautiful Inkana Bridge (Inkana Ulhchuba) which crosses to the Chickasaw Cultural Center grounds! Inkana means friend in Chickasaw. The cultural center is closed on Sundays and Mondays so walking on the bridge was our only option.
However I did meet an insect (issosh) inkana on the bridge!

Since the cultural center was closed we followed a path towards the Rock Creek campground. One gnarly oak (chisha) grew beside the trail!
A tiny spider (cholhkun) inkana!
Back on the Cateye Road I found a ditch to investigate. Such interesting roots (hukshish)!
Then I found a way down to Rock Creek (Tulli Bokoshi).
So I had hoped for a view of the Inkana Bridge. It was not to be.

Indeed it had been a good morning! One more trail was on the list for the afternoon.
