Cat Scat and a Bumble Bee

Another fine morning walk with my friends greeting me as stepped out the back door.

A fresh bit of scat on the sidewalk as I stepped outside. Whose was it? And interesting to me was the dampness around the scat.
It was a toad turd!

The Spiny-aster (Chloracantha spinosa) hosted a small black Blister Beetle (Meloidae)!

For a month or two I have been checking the Cow-itch (Cissus incisa) for the Wilson’s Wood-nymph (Xerociris wilsonii). And here they were this morning! The paddled shape seta and the distinctive black body with the orange head caught my attention. Yeah, they were back!

Then looking beneath the cat was the cat scat!

Another pile! Cat scat led to several more cats!
So by then I was looking just as much for the cat scat as I was for the cat itself. 😉 And here was a second one just above the scat.

My final cat find at the Cow-itch, a pair! But the cat scat for these two was nowhere to be found. So I guess it was down in the ground litter.
No scat here. 😉 However I was delighted to find another Southern Plains Bumble Bee (Bombus fraternus) on the Leavenworth’s Eryngo (Eryngium leavenworthii)!

A great morning walk with scat and a bumble bee!
