Didn’t Collect

Back to the bottomland outing!

This was a most interesting location of the Woods Ear (Auricularia). It was on the ground and presumably with a root or wood under it. Though it was not evident by just looking.
The wood borer beetles had made quite the pile of sawdust!

For scale, Jeanne’s arm. It was a big grapevine!

Such a beauty highlighted with the brown center!
Here was what I think may be Chocolate Tube Slime Mold (Stemonitis splendens). Right color but usually I find them really crowded together.

More Chocolate Tube Slime Mold (Stemonitis splendens) and also not crowded. So may be it was something new. And you (unless you do) nor me will know since I didn’t feel the need to collect. LOL.

It was a good morning for the slime molds so far!
