How quickly the months come. And so it was another First Wednesday outing today! What a wet start to the first half of the year here in North Texas as it was for many of you. And when June comes the weather is heating up. Well we could use a stretch of dry weather.
Ahhh, this was going to be great morning! And we had not even moved away from the parked cars. LOL.
Been seeing a lot of these Short-winged Katydids lately. Looking for an ID on iNat between Chestnut and Common. I think mine are Common. One hung out on the window screen all day never moving.
Crepe paper was my first thought too when i saw your picture. Very nice pics
😊
My prickly poppies didn’t come up, alas. They look they are very popular destinations!!
It would be interesting to see what comes to them at night. Better luck next year with yours.
Those were such large plants too – so much activity inside them.
Interesting article about that fern and implications of having such a large genome.
Sure was…
Love the bees and their “saddlebags.” De-extinction article so interesting. Exciting but controversial subject.
Makes science interesting I think. 🤔 😊
Off to a good start!

I read that a lot of the kattydids are actually nocturnal. I waffled on my ID’s and then just got tire and hungry. So I will look another day. 🤪
Exactly. Rest by day and come out and make all the noise at night.
