Yesterday’ s low was 36.7f. However today it was colder at 34.7F. And this morning a little bit of frost was evident on the grass too.
A Grass-Veneer (Crambini) had snuck in the house the night before. Sorry guy but you should be outside and not our house guest.
A Leaf Beetle (Leptinotarsa haldemani) with a metallic green elytra and a blue pronotum. Always a delightful find! They have a range of colors from purple, green or dark blue. Green seems to be the most common around our house. So their preferred foods are in the Night-shade family (Solanaceae).
The Palafoxia (Palafoxia callosa) provides for the sweat bee. Each time I walk to our mail box I check for cats. None this year. 🙁
The pronotum of the Spotted Cucumber Beetle (Diabrotica undecimpunctata) was semi-transparent. Now that is pretty cool.
The stunning green-eyed Robberfly (Asilidae) caught a Northern Paper Wasp (Polistes fuscatus)!
The circle of life continued as other Northern Paper Wasps (Polistes fuscatus) were busy at the Fall Asters (Symphyotrichum ericoides)!

Whoa, that’s a cool photo of the Moon’s shadow during the eclipse! And I don’t see how a private landowner even has agency to petition to dam a major river in Texas. I hope he is turned down. I also read somewhere else that in Mason County, it was discovered that a landowner dammed up the James River and no one knew until the downstream property owners wondered why there was no water in their part of the river after a big rain. Seems like the Corps of Engineers and TPWD could just go in and remove it, case closed.
Wow! I hope they make that landowner pay for the removal of the dam as well. My personal opinion is that we should not be making dams or lakes on rivers and streams. Water conservation is must.
